Could I get some recommendations for courses I can be doing proactively as an E3? Also where to locate these courses. I know they are on AKO but online training in the Army is a lot different than when I was in the Marine Corps.

Start working on college now. You can max out your correspondence courses for promotion points in no time. College takes years to accumulate points for promotion. Plus, those correspondence courses mean nothing to the E7 and above promotion board, but that degree you earned as a SGT will set you ahead of your peers for all future promotions.

Interesting. I'm currently working on my mechanical engineering degree at the University of Minnesota and I'm hoping to finish that up in two years. I didnt know degrees meant that much to the military. Thank you for the insight!

Taking the initiative is always a good thing, we need more Soldiers like you. Knocking out your SSD1 and working towards a degree would put you ahead of your peers.

Thank you for the kind words SGT. I made some mistakes in the Corps and I am trying to amend them with myself. I just want to learn and teach others.

I don't know what the right AKO courses to take are, others can give you advice on that, just want to applaud you for taking the initiative!

Thanks LT. I've been an E3 for 4.5 years (no I wasn't a dirtbag) and I just want to advance and learn so I can teach others.

Of course completing SSD1 and beginning college are a great start. But I also recommend that you take any course/ class available to you. Start with the ones you are most interested in first. Way to be proactive!

Some of the Amedd courses on jko give a ton of cc hours. I knocked out like 200 hours in a single staff duty shift!

I would recommend that you start working on points via correspondence courses. It will take a while but max them out and it will help you in the long run. I don't know all of them but I'm sure you can find a list of army correspondence courses on Google.
