1-25th ID.... what a great unit that is. Great location too. Make sure you enjoy outdoors life and get out and do fun stuff there. You will love it. The BAH and COLA were fairly decent when I was there. you can definitely mange to pocket some money.

I honestly could not tell you. I PCSed late in 1980. I am sure it has changed since I was there. I hope you enjoy it there as much as I did. I hated to leave. I was 2nd echelon aircraft maintenance with the 568 Trans co. Other end of the runway from the calv unit back then.

Yes. It was E troop 1st calv when I was there. Jan 77 to Dec 80 I requested and received a second tour for there. We weren't actually Depot level we were next to it. but we were given permission by Depot in Corpus Christi to do their level several times. Only one bearing they never let us replace as it took a special pres. They shipped / loaned us tools on a few occasions Great duty. I had the pleasure of going to E troops hanger once to repair something on a cobra engine. I was escorted by an armed MP the entire time I was in the Hanger.
I was allowed to open my shop up to a group of 101 that parachuted in over the airfield one Jan. there was a mix up and I asked for and received permission to let them into my shop to warm up while they figured where they were to meet up with the rest of their group. They had cold weather gear but it did not compare to ours and at 25 below I felt so sorry for them.
