I am PCSing to Fort Lee, VA in a month or so to attend Quartermaster BOLC and ADMOC. I see plenty of apartments in the area online, but am looking for actual reviews of which neighborhoods are nice, and which I should avoid. I will have my pregnant wife with me and would prefer a safe area that is not incredibly expensive.

While stationed on Fort Lee, I lived on post, but I was there for four years and had time to explore the areas. You definitely want to stay away from downtown Petersburg or Hopewell. Colonial Heights and Prince George have some really nice areas, but traffic to and from post is bad. You will have to figure out the best time to leave for work. Since you wife is pregnant, you may want to know about hospitals. There is one in Hopewell, in a decent area. and one in Petersburg, downtown. I recommend the one in Hopewell. I hope this information is helpful. Good luck at Fort Lee. I enjoyed my stay there with the 54th and 109th QMCO's...

Stay away from Independence Place. They are dishonest and deceptive. I had to file a BBB complaint against them. They lied about my neighbors and tried to blame me even though my roommates also had filed complaints.

I stayed at Bailey's Ridge in Prince George back in 2008-2010 timeframe. Very close to post - just right outside the back gate by the commissary.
