There are a lot of discounts and deals for around Veterans Day. We are curious what RallyPoint members think are the best.

I know it is not really what you are talking about but this AM I got up and went an ran across a huge lake dam, total a little over 5 miles. I also sang very loud and I am sure it was not in tune, but it was cool. That may not be the best but it is pretty damn cool.

Okay, I think what you are looking for is Olive Garden has or had free meals on Veterans Day. It was a special/limited menu and as aways it was great. So thank you Olive Garden for being great Americans.

I think they are there all the time but I stopped at the USO special rooms a few times flying from place to place. Sometimes I would have a drink or maybe a snack sometimes I was just looking for a place to rest for a minute before getting on my next flight.

A "Thank You", for serving in the military, it made it all worth it, to be proud to serve a country with respect.

A lot on Veterans Day; but, am even more impressed and appreciative of the increasing amount of discounts that are being offered *every* day.

Approaching Veterans Day, I’ve found three things that come with no charge.

Civilian employers don’t give a rat's ass about your military background.
That’s no charge.

Today’s pampered youth has more credibility that a U.S. service veteran.
This one’s gratis.

9/11 was supposed to be a unifying event for our country, where we get to know one another,
look after one another, and rally behind the service members committed to defending our nation. The event had an opposing effect. Our culture has to be directed in acknowledging its watchmen. They tout their camaraderie for our soldiers, do nothing, and convince themselves they’re supporting their countrymen.

There’s another free-be for ya.

I'm a fan of Lowes' treatment of Vets on Veterans Day (and all year round). They offer the 10% discount that is easily applied via a scan card once you verify your service; they have Veteran only parking spaces up front in their lots and they seem to have a pretty good hiring program (haven't worked there, can't comment on it personally though): https://jobs.lowes.com/military

The Market Cafe in most HyVee supermarkets gives a free buffet breakfast that is excellent, Olive Garden is good, and Golden Corral usually gives a free meal about 3 days later. There are more, but I hit those three and appreciate them. Applebee's does it, too, but they have never been a favorite of ours. The three I mentioned give my wife a free meal for her dependent ID card, which is very nice.
