What are the best jobs for Veterans transitioning to the civilian sector?

Today I spoke with a Diesel mechanic NCO that recently got hired by the Alaska Railroad as an engine mechanic. Great salary, great benefits and he is happy to do what he loves.

I believe an honorable service record gets them in the door of various opportunities but only demonstrates potential. It's continued hard work and technical proficiency that makes a career.
