I am thinking of putting up a survey to answer the question of the Best Military Movie. I am thinking these should be the most accurate and moving movies out of the pile of those made.

Movies I am thinking of movies that would be like "We Were Soldiers" and "Band of Brothers"

Yeah, band of brothers has my vote. Maybe followed by some Black Hawk Down and the recent wash of SEAL movies like Act of Valor, Lone Survivor, 0Dark30.

HBO did a similar series to Band Of Brothers called The Pacific. It was also well made. I enjoy both equally.

Lone Survivor and Black Hawk Down for sure make the list. But on the other end of the spectrum Stripes was funny as shit and actually reminds of of some of the funny shit about Basic Training. Lol

I really liked lone survivor. It showed the dedication we have for eachother. It also showed that not all people in the middle east are fanatics hell bent on killing us.

The thing it also reminded me of that I hated about war was The Friggin Rules Of Engagement!!! Never did think you should have rules on how your allowed to kill the enemy, especially when we are the only ones who follow them.

I"ve got to update my original answer wth "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". It's now my favorite. My original list was: "Act of Valor", & "Lone Survivor", "Black Hawk Down" Old favorites are "Once We Were Soldiers" and "Band of Brothers"

I just watched, "Uncommon Valor" for the first time in 20 years. I couldn't finish the movie without shedding a few tears though.

I really appreciated "Act of Valor", & "Lone Survivor" most recently. "Black Hawk Down" (even though the theatrical version deviated from the real story, the action was done well). Old favorites are "Once We Were Soldiers" and "Band of Brothers,"

Battle of Los Angeles. It is so bad, I had to watch the entire movie just to get a laugh. I think the actors had to pay the production company to be in it. If you like cheesy movies, this is the best.

Seen a lot of these movies.. however one stays on my mind, due to the acting performance of Jack Nicholson, that movie was " A few good men " another movie I often recall is " Rules of Engagement " I feel that both of these were Well Done..

I'm always going with this one as it's 100% real. The MC won the Oscar for Short Documentary in '45. It had to get FDR's OK to release it. The original Oscar was a plaster plaque as all were then due to all copper, brass, etc. going to the war effort. They got the more familiar one later.

Any list that includes Lone Survivor, Full Metal Jacket, Black Hawk Down, Uncommon Valor, Platoon, or A Few Good Men are fine with me.
