Honesty, be a good lister, fairness, firmness, be motivational without belittling, recognize jobs well done and stay in control with authority.

Integrity, high standard’s of moral conduct. Positive leadership vision and visible confidence in leading subordinates to follow by example. One that stand’s up and show’s competent examples of their endeavor’s every day. One that support’s and promotes good sound practices while commanding. Above reproach in their service of leading and serving those above and below the chain of command. Recognizing outstanding performances and bringing marginal performances up so all in His/Her charge can excell.

The best traits:
If you want people to follow you, require from them only what you are willing to do. If you’re not willing to do it, then how can your subordinates be expected to? Model the behavior you want to see.
We must be willing to get dirty with those beneath us. We leaders should be the first ones to start a project.

I believe that the best trait any leader can have is the ability to not just listen but actually hear what their people have to say.
