The very best traits are "HIT" - Honest, Integrity, and Trust. A leader cannot have "trust" of superiors, peers, or subordinates without being "honest and integrity".

There are two: to be authentically present in each moment and actively listen when their stakeholders (up and down the chain) speak.

A true leader recognizes his or her need to be led. They do not reach a place in their life where they think they have all the right answers or can offer all the right answers or support. Leadership is not demanding something out of someone else, it is working closely with them and treating them with dignity and respect.

A real leader is someone who is vulnerable with people. They are open and honest with the people who can help them and also people that they lead.

Leadership implies that people are going somewhere, as there as a destination to get to. A great leader knows the direction to go, or else it would be the blind leading the blind.
Not only pertained to the mission, but in life as well.

A true leader recognizes the needs of the people they are leading. Emotional needs, physical needs, spiritual needs, relational needs, financial needs....every part of their lives.

They are interested in the overall well being of a human. They add value to people. They offer support in any way they possibly can. A true leader is not concerned with the title before his name. They are more concerned with being led and being a leader to others.

True leaders seek to learn and do not think that their answers are always right. They listen and seek to understand. They are always there for their people, not assuming that one answer is the right answer all the time, as needs and situations are all unique, so are the solutions.

Leaders never stop leading.

The best traits of an authentic leaders include being humble, listening, leading as opposed to directing, and treating your subordinates as a team instead of a group of pack dogs. Humble yourself by being willing to learn from your group and by admitting if you don't know everything. Don't act superior but act as a part of the team by facilitating at times instead of always being "bossy." Listen to your folks because they are the ones doing the work. Hear their suggestions, feedback, and concerns. Lead the group by rolling up your sleeves and getting at their level at times. Lead by example in everything that you are expecting them to do, including behaviors and written expectations. Treat the group as a team by making them feel that they are important and are a necessity. Make sure they don't feel isolated, inferior, or unheard.

Firstly, empathy is a crucial trait for any leader who wants to be seen as authentic. By being able to put themselves in their team's shoes and understand their perspectives, an authentic leader can build stronger relationships with their employees and create a more positive work environment.

Another important trait is honesty. Leaders who are transparent and open with their team members can create a culture of trust and accountability. This helps to ensure that everyone is on the same page and working towards the same goals.

In addition, a good authentic leader should have a strong sense of integrity. This means that they have a set of values and principles that guide their decision-making and behavior, and they consistently uphold these standards even when faced with difficult situations.

Finally, effective communication is essential for any authentic leader. By being clear and direct in their communication, leaders can build trust and ensure that everyone is working towards the same goals.

Overall, these are just a few of the traits that make an authentic leader. By embodying these qualities, leaders can inspire their team members to be their best selves and work together to achieve success.

The traits that make a person an authentic leader are those same traits that motivate a person to place the goals of others and the goals of the mission before self. An authentic leader is charismatic, selfless, hard working and brave enough to admit his limitations in order to select the right person to lead each facet of the mission or goal before the team.

An authentic leader should be one that is not only fair with people under them, they should also be firm and consistent along with being compassionate and understanding with each individual's needs. Not everyone is built the same and this needs to be recognized by someone who is a leader of people.
