So I’m currently a 35F in the reserves and am trying to go active duty , getting the process done with a recruiter and my unit, but when that process is complete and I go to MEPS again to sign an active contract, what are the chances of being able to get airborne?, and going to Bragg? Really wanna go to the 82nd and challenge myself

You just have to ask, if they have it they'll give it to you. If not, after you've been a year on station you can request Airborne training through your branch manager. The Army is always in need of Skill level 1 Airborne Soldiers

The only way you will get airborne is if you go to an airborne unit and most of Ft. Bragg is airborne. So if you are allowed to request your base, Bragg is what you should ask for.

Pretty high honestly. If you really want to challenge yourself then volunteer for an airborne contract with an Option 40 and try to get to the R-MIB.
But in all honesty, you can get an airborne contract but there is no guarantee you are going to end up in the 82nd

Nothing wrong with the 173rd in Vicenzo, Italy...I was with them in Nam. Great unit.

If you are staying in the same MOS, with no additional training, you should be given the option to select a duty station. Granted it’s based on availability, ask for FT Bragg, and either they will send you to Airborne school first, or once you get to Bragg.

You are allegeable to go Airborne, as a Reserved they will send you to in process at Fort Glenwood for 30 day. Once in this location they will ask you if you like to become a Airborne. Not hard to do trooper!!!

Depends on what MOS you select at MEPs and if they are short Airborne qualified folks. Tell the counselor at MEPs that you want to volunteer for Airborne duty and ask what MOS's are available that are short Airborne qualified Soldiers. I do not know of anyone who was qualified that chose an MOS that was "short" Airborne qualified personnel and "volunteered" for an Airborne assignment to be turned down.

There are various summer trainings that many Reservist or Guardsmen can apply for at 82nd and 101st. I'm a Cold War veteran and back in my high school day's in the 70's, our summer camps was training course with military tactics. Don't know if they still exist, but it's worth checking into.
