I’m very interested in dropping a recruiter packet. I know there are some age, TIS, and TIG requirements, all of which I haven’t hit yet. However, my division outreach NCO told me that they can be waived and that I’ll turn 21 before my packet is processed. I’m 3 years in with 1 year on my current station, but it’s OCONUS (Hawaii). Is there a fighting chance branch would release me? I know one year at current station is a must but is there a possibility I could get away with that even though I’m in Hawaii? Also, I’m in an understrength MOS (35P). I am hoping to use my Mandarin language identifier to assist in a battalion with a dense Chinese population. Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

You do not currently meet the requirements to submit a volunteer recruiting packet. Also, branch is not going to release a 10-level soldier to a broadening assignment.

You’re not even an NCO, how do you expect to be a recruiter?

Hey SSG Johnson! Totally forgot to mention I should be picking up E5 next month. Sorry about that. Hope you’re well.
