I have been DA Selected to become an Army Recruiter with a PCS date March 2024. I will attend ARC October-December 2023. My understanding is that I will receive a list of possible BDE/BN approximately 30 days prior to arriving at ARC. Then the orders are cut while at the schoolhouse in FT Knox. I want to go to New England (with other places I find nice/preferable) and want to avoid where I grew up like the plague (Oklahoma/Missouri).

Oh, you might get to pick a BN but I seriously doubt you'll get to pick your Company or Station, never know though.

If you want to be successful as a recruiter you need to stay out of New England. I recruited twice in 2 different decades in 2 different parts of the country. If you are offered 5th BDE you need to take it, that's where MO and OK fall under, or at least did in mid 2000's. But, do some research and see if things have changed as they may have. either way, New England has never been a good place to be a successful recruiter. Sure there have been some but not at the rate there have been out of 5th BDE. 2nd BDE was the best place to be the first time I recruited, I was upset that I didn't get to go there the 2nd time but ended up doing well. Good luck!

Wish lists work just like they always have. You might get to see what's available and try to make it work but needs of the Army will take priority. Just be careful what you ask for because not all of New England is receptive to Military service and may not make things easy on you making quota. What I have done in the past when I knew where I couldn't be stationed I would just work with leadership.

you should contact your Military Recruiter or Sponsor for more information and instructions on the process. They will be able to provide you with the latest information on how the process works and what steps you need to take to ensure your priorities are considered during the selection process.
