I graduated with an AS from TCC in 1982, then transferred to Christopher Newport.

I didn't know TCC was around that long.

SGT (Join to see) - I had classes at (all) three campuses... Mainly at VAB, but more in Portsmouth when we bought a house in Churchland. One class in Chesapeake near the hospital where I was working... lots of miles, but worth it.

I know a few people with TCC that had that very complaint - the schools are spread throughout the area.

I started in a community college for the price. it was called junior college then. it was a smooth transition from army courses, I sometimes felt I was back in high school. it was an easy transition to a "state" 4-year college. they have to accept you. fortunately that was before the costs got where they are now...ridiculous.

some advice...stay away from 100 level courses; they usually don't transfer. what I'm saying is take math 111 instead of 101. work with an advisor early on and make sure all your courses will transfer.

Definitely price. You can complete your first two years of a 4 year school for less than half the price, then transfer over. Just know where you want to go, and work towards those requirements. I ended up transferring to Christopher Newport where my foreign language was a requirement and not just an elective.

Yeah, that transfer thing is always somewhat of a pain. Many people scratch their heads with the VMET and JST, which I understand. The accreditation issue is painful at times.
