Husband is in the Army reserves and is currently trying to go back active. His MOS is 25U but has been told he will have to re-class due to no openings. He has been considering 13M because he has heard they have fast paced promotions and also he was apart of an artillery unit when active and enjoyed it. What are the pros/cons that come with MOS and also what are the possible duty stations?

Well I was active duty army 25B and went into the reserves and just returned to active duty and had no other choice than to pick 13M and yeah he'll see Staff Sergeant fast but Sergeant First Class he will be competing with a lot of other 13Ms from what I gather from the cadre NCO that are waiting for their E7 in the AIT unit I'm part of.

Jenna James yeah that's building 1606 I was there last year, I was a very weird assignment; because right after graduating from AIT I stayed in the same unit as permanent personnel. Yes a lot of people go to Korea when graduating from AIT and then come back here. It's a huge rotation, all the time in this MOS from what I'm gathering this year that I've been in the schoolhouse. And there's only four locations this MOS can be stationed at Fort Sill, Korea, Fort Bragg, and Fort Lewis; I know some people are starting to get assign to Germany but I haven't seen it happen yet.
Personally me I'm putting in a packet to go 25D. I personally miss being a Signal Corps NCO. Promotion points are the same for 25D and 13m for Staff Sergeant. of course I don't have to worry about getting promoted to Staff Sergeant because I got promoted in October.

Thanks for the info! I'll get that to him. And they are telling him they are waiting for 12 people to have a class so they are waiting for a few more. He's been sitting around since the 16th... about going crazy! But hopefully they'll move him soon and start school.
He's already second guessing his decision on the MOS but he just wanted to get back on the active side. Maybe he can reclass after his contract ends. SSG Dennis Mendoza
