May is a month which is chock full of reminders about military service for those serving, those supporting the people who are serving and those who died while in the service of this nation.
We are living in turbulent times yet I believe we have much to be thankful for. I am thankful:
1. that our armed forces are still attracting highly qualified, conscientious, and motivated soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
2. that this nation is still generally the land of the free and more certainly the home of the brave.
3. for the privilege of serving this nation for so many years and getting to work with and know so many of those who served with me.
4. for the love of my wife and sons.
5. for my daily and eternal salvation through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We are fortunate that in 70 years we have not had a large scale conflict. In these last 13 years or so only a smaller number of our population has risen up to serve.

I am thankful I had the honor & privilege to serve along side my fellow brothers & sisters.

I am thankful for for the devotion and sacrifices of all who have worn the uniform and those who serve today.

I am thankful for the love of my wife, family and friends.

Giving thanks even when life is difficult, even when suffering surrounds us.

I'm thankful for morning coffee, with it, someone's life is spared from the knife hand or throat punch.

After one fateful day, I made a promise to meet each sunrise & sunset.
(yeah, there's a lot of reading in between the lines on that one)

I am thankful I still have my health that I can actually stop and smell the flowers.

I am thankful that a foreign army doesn't have to come over to where we live and train us how to do basic soldiering skills like getting up out of bed and showing up to work on time, putting on a pair of boots, and how to drive a vehicle.

LTC Stephen F. You hit all the right notes.

I am grateful for the freedoms I enjoy, despite all the trouble and desecration we see in the news.

I am most grateful for all the veterans throughout history and their sacrifices to allow me to have such freedoms.

First of all, I am thankful for the brothers and sisters who sacrificed, and gave, so that we may have the freedom we so enjoy today, which has given us the right to serve our risen Savior, worship Him, and honor Him. Memorial Day is one, in which we should reflect on what these fallen heroes have done. To leave family, jobs, loved ones, and a the simple way of life they were used to, indicates to me, personally, that in times of need, the vast number of Americans, will, in a selfless manner, confront those adversities, that would undermine what this country stands for. Sadly, far too many Americans see this day in a selfish manner. It's all about them, and not our fallen heroes. I salute those who are gone, and those who have served and are still with us, and those who continue to serve. To God Be The Glory. Blessings.

I am most thankful for my father.
He served in the Army for 20 years and retired while I was still in Junior High.
He is a Vietnam Veteran.
He has been a great father.
He has been a great example of what a man should be.
He has been a great mentor on what a Soldier and a leader should be.
He made me who I am today.
