You will need to reach out to an AMEDD recruiter. There are a limited number of slots annually. If you meet the basic requirements and don't need any waiver (moral), you should be competitive. Prior service is always looks good.

SFC (Join to see) - Thanks for responding. I actually reached out to an AMEDD recruiter locally last year in August. She was very helpful in explaining, but stated the 70B and 70A program in the Army Reserve is very competitive. The requirements are not a good fit with my current undergrad degree, current masters work, and lack of any medical admin experience. I was hoping to find out what avenues current Military Healthcare Administrators in the other branches (besides Army Active Duty/Reserves) have taken to enter their field. Unless of course someone has advice on who to talk with besides the "sales" side of the house that has connections and can mentor a prospect.

You can take that with a grain of salt...to qualify for 70B, all you need is a Bachelors degree...it doesn't matter what it's in. What's going to set you apart is you are prior services. If yo7 submit a strong motivational statement and strong letters of recommendation (you need a minimum of 3), I think you have a great chance. Just because someone says it's competitive, doesn't mean you should count yourself out.

Great advice, SFC Whitfield. I will re-engage the AMEDD recruiter in New Orleans early next year, about 6 months from my MBA degree completion, and see if she can help me get a strong packet together with your recommendations for success.

Just trying to understand....are you currently active duty? Or are you a civilian trying to come back in? Have you talked to a healthcare recruiter?

SFC Whitfield, I'm a civilian with a separation of 4 years ago. I'm looking to get back in on the reserve side, and have grown out of my "Hooah" combat arms days. I have a much broader, career focused perspective than the 30 year old me, and my strong interests lay in healthcare administration/management. On the civilian side, I'm applying to work for the VA in New Orleans once I complete my MBA work early next Summer. A career as a reservist in a similar role would be a complimentary to the VA position, in my opinion.
