I’ve been to JBLM, WA, Fort Bragg and Baumholder Germany. I absolutely hate Bragg! Fayetteville is the most miserable place I’ve ever been to. I learned to appreciate JBLM from being at Bragg. That said, I can imagine Hood, Bliss, Wainwright and Polk all being worse

It depends on how squared away it is when you get there, and how far into your career you are. My first duty station was Coleman Kassurne, Gelnhausen West Germany, I can’t think of anyone who wasn’t proud to be part of that brigade, I cried when we found out it was being deactivated! I went from there to second brigade 1ID on Ft Riley- ate up! Lack of leadership, piss poor morale, officers who were discipline junkies to the point they publicly posted disciplinary action taken against soldiers in the barracks by the CQ desk. Fortunately, not long after I arrived we got a large influx of NCOs and officers arriving from posts in Europe and Korea who realized how wrong FT Riley was and set it right. After 6 months, FT Riley was up to the standards I had gotten used to in Gelnhausen

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Ft Knox with the Muldraugh ghetto to the north.

Its all in what you make of it. Who you find as friends, associations and leaders just as you would on a campus. Your experience is all up to you on how well you enjoy the stay.

Based on very limited experience and/or speculation - Fort Richardson, Alaska; Fort Irwin, California; Camp Shelby Mississippi; Fort Drum, New York and anywhere in Afghanistan.

Ft Sill wasn’t great. Warner Barracks in Bamberg, Germany was good. Small post but Germany was awesome.

First duty station was Ft. Polk. It always makes it towards the top of these worst duty station polls. Gotta admit, year one I hated it. After year four I was sad to leave.
