When I was just a kid, my father told me, "There are only two good jobs in the world, the one you just left and the one your looking for.". I asked him to explain his comments. He replied that most people only remember the good facts of the past, ignoring the bad. In the same line, they can.only assume their next job, not knowing what it will be, will have to be better. With 20 years service in the Army, his comments stuck with me. Guess what, those thoughts ring so true as facts of real life. It's just the way it is. No one wants to remember the "bad" and we all hope for a better tomorrow. I think you can call that human nature and believe it or not, we in the military service, are human.

Ever been to Fort Gordon, GA? When I was there in the old barracks you could stand on one side of the room, look at the wall on the other and see trainees marching and never look at a window. Real exciting during winter, actually wake up with snow in the barracks.

K com, 75th attached to 4th ID An Khe Viet Nam was good
Of course all duty stations in Air Force were like a vacation spot.

To me it is not where you were stationed, but rather when and what your job was that would make a place great or not. To me, the worst was Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Summer 1962 for Basic Training. The Best place was the DLI at the Presidio of Monterey, CA. for a year, '62 - '63 as a Korean Language Student. It was just like being in college again. The second best place was just outside of Seoul, Korea, '64-'65 as a Korean Linguist. No shooting, no drills, almost like college dorm life. We worked in rotating 8-hour shifts in A/C quonsette huts under non-NCO supervision with relatively good rank. Movie theater, fair to middling food, and no hassle. Desk type mental work, Close to 8th Army HQ and PX. All in all, it wasn't bad duty. I got out before the VN Balloon went up!
