SFC Gregory Moe
Did basic training there in 73 said I would never go back. Now I live in Springfield Mo. so that is where i go for all my military retirement needs. A full circle. LOL

In my whole 7 years, I don't think I had a really bad duty station: Ft Eustes, Ft. Sill, Cp Hialeah Korea, Ft. Polk. Oh, I forgot Ft. Walters and Ft. Rucker.

Best was in 2AD Ft Hood. Worst was 1st Cav Fort Hood. Surprising the difference in commands.

As an officer, your perception of good is a little different from the Joe's.
They think of amenities, and your focus is on progression.
The First Sgt nailed it. It's what you make of it. Find a shit bird unit and turn it around. Find a good unit and go from 100 mph to match 2.
Beyond that, it's all geography. Ft Irwin is hot and Ft Drum is cold.
Suck it up Buttercup. :)
