My first and only duty station was Fort Drum. Harsh winters, and not much to do as it’s an isolated post. Not saying it was a total nightmare. Duty, honor, country, stay positive, make the best of it etc. All I’m saying is statistically it has to have one of the lowest re-enlistment rates in the U.S. Army. In my unit there were very few people who re-upped across all ranks. Many would comment on how Fort Drum was a “black hole” so to speak. And we had many people who did harsh deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. So, overall I think the re-enlistment rate speaks for itself. I saw it first hand.

Stationed at Ft Dix, Ft Meade, Ft Knox, Ft Sam Houston and been through Ft Devens. Ft Sam Houston was my favorite of these, I liked Ft Knox too. To be fair, I was in boot camp at Ft Dix and didn’t see much of the post there.

I always tried to make the best of where I was. Washington DC area was a challenge due to crowded traffic and high prices but a lot to see and do

Well I’m on my first contract and it was at the old guard. Started out as probably the best place I could’ve imagined I absolutely loved showing up to work honestly. About a year later it turned to shit with all these changes that were made. And it’s been a depression pit for everyone SSG and below since

My worst duty station by far was Fort Stewart, GA between December 1984 and May 1987. My then wife was treated horribly, my unit had no mission and was chronically understrength and eyewash was the rule of the day. I hope things have changedbecause for me, the 24th Division was a hell hole on Earth.
