What are your five worst places to be stationed in the Army?

I was at Cp. Gary Owen Korea from Feb 90 - May 91....... That was pretty primitive living and our Mess Sgt was selling all the beef to the Koreans instead of cooking it for us.

Wasn't in the Army but, went TDY to several Army bases over the years. The worst one was, a tiny little Army Air Base located on Panama. Tropical rain forest, rains every single day and the humidity is 100%. Actually, there are 2 there..........Ft. Sherman and Ft. Davis but, we spent most of our time on Ft. Sherman. You could wash and dry your uniforms then within a couple of hours, they'd be damp from the humidity. The worst part was the food. Even though they had a brick and mortar mess hall, we still got fed field rations for every single meal.
Breakfast consisted of powdered milk, powdered eggs, bacon you could use as a splint, biscuits that tasted like sand and instant coffee.
Lunch was MRE's.
For dinner, we had a choice of pressed turkey roll or pressed pork roll and the color of most of the vegetables was a little................off.

The worst one is the one closet to home when you're fresh out of high school. My first duty station was Fort Benning after basic and AIT and it didn't force me to grow up like another duty station would have.

My worst duty station was Leesville La, nothing to brag about just a little city with nothing to offer, you have travel to Lake Charles or to other destinations to shop and have a descent time, that was my experience, the roads are wore out, base housing was descent, again nothing to brag about

There aren't any. As several posts have alluded-you make your assignment on your own. After 30 years of Active Component service on 6 different continents people lways ask me what was my favorite place. The answers always as heen-and always will be--wherever I happened to be. Would not t4ade away a minute or do anything HH III NG differently.

I came home from RVN in 1969 and was assigned to Fort Carson in February. I thought I would freeze to death as I was assigned as an OP Umpire and spent 5 1/2 days a week down range. When I was discharged in July, I went to the VA Hospital with Malaria. The meds from RVN suppressed the symptoms but I ran a low grade fever. I do not have any good feelings about Fort Carson or the State of Colorado.

Fort Sam is the best.

I only had 3 permanent posts, Basic at Ft Leonard Wood. AIT at Walter Reed, and active duty at Ft. Huachuca. With a couple TDYs to Yuma and Davis Monthan AFB(?sp) and one to Luke AFB. If I had to pick a worst, it would be Ft Leonard Wood because ticks and chiggers and all that. But none were bad really.
