I loved being stationed at Ft Lewis. There is a ton to do in the area. You can hunt, fish, scuba dive, boating, skydiving, hiking, mountain climbing, clubbing in Seattle, shopping at malls, many great restaurants. All of this is within an hour drive from post. In addition you are close to California, and Canada.

I cant speak about being stationed at Polk on a long term basis but it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. As 1SG Bill Farmerie mentioned the crawfish boils were amazing.

I don't know about the Army, But Adak Alaska sucked for sailors and Marines!!!

I've always heard Fort Polk and Fort Irwin are pretty terrible. Fort Sill sounds terrible.
