I hear a lot of negative things about ft bliss , I mean , it's my first duty station , so I cant really have a comparison on what's bad or whatever , my moms friends husband did 20 years in the army and he said ft bliss was hes last duty station and he said if this was hes first , he wouldn't last 20 years.

I've never been to, or was stationed in Fort Polk, but I've always heard that is the worst Duty station. I was stationed at Schofield Barracks. It was awful!

They are all truly what you make of it. The question should be what are the top five duty stations.

Spent three days in Adak. I just can't imagine being stationed there. Loved Monterey. Too bad they closed Fort Ord.

I have found that is not the post itself, but the unit and leadership that determines a good or bad assignment. I have never been to a bad post, but I have had a crappy "leaders" which made for crappy units. I guess that's the good thing about surviving crappy leadership in a unit. When good leadership comes in you can watch the unit get better and better and know that the whole Army isn't jacked up. Having said that;
1. In a unit with poor leadership and communication.
2. In a unit that does not need your MOS .
3. In an experimental unit. (although you get to see/do cool new stuff occasionally guinea pig is never a good job title)
4. Any unit in the process of closing a base down or moving to another post/location.
5.Any unit in the middle of a downrange rotation. (There is something unsettling about being the new guy twice in the same unit)
