The AIM cycle is closing and we will be going into preferencing our assignments. I believe this is the first two sided AIM cycle. There are a lot of officers going into this cycle. If you have used AIM or if you are in the this cycle what advice do you have? Asking for a friend.

It might be a bit late now if the window is getting ready to close, but basically what I've been told and see is make your choices early so the commands can see who's interested in them and they can preference you. I know many people that have also contacted the gaining command they are interested in to try and arrange a 1-1 match.

I contacted all the units I was interested in. Did a few interviews via microsoft teams. As of now it looks like it is working in my favor. All the units I am interested in are showing a green check mark indicating they are interested in me. Fort Campbell is the place I am placing as number 1 followed by a few other ADA jobs that will meet KD requirements. I have been told that a command is a command OER and performance outweighs everything else. AIM didnt work out for me last time but there were limited jobs and HRC was still involved. I hope that this time around I will get 1 of my top 3.

Some units are still prioritizing. I got an interview and got one job lined up. I'm still trying for a command though.

I am also participating in this market. Things I looked for:

A position which allows me to enter the command queue. This is usually between 24-36 months, so I was specifically looking only for 13A jobs, not 01/02A.

I would like to diversify so I was looking for an IBCT/SBCT as I came from an ABCT.

I selected based off duty location, not job. Once you report to the unit the strength manager can use you to fill any job, so the job is immaterial (as least this is what we have been told here at FACCC).

I used the marketplace once before. Got my first choice. AIM 2.0 seems to be an improvement over previous assignment tools. Have your friend email units they are interested in. I believe there are two months remaining before requisitions are finalized.
