What are your thoughts on the Army's new uniform and some useless feautures?

The Army finally came out with the operational camouflage pattern as a replacement for the ACU. With that it kept some of the (in my personal opinion) wrongly conceived features like the reversed sleeve cuff buttons and the front zipper. The first are awkward in their use and the second it keeps body heat; not to mention it might slightly increase the cost. I would definitely like to know the logic behind those 2 insignificant issues. Any ideas?

I hate the reverse buttons. I would say that the buttons of past did get caught on everything out there when messing nets. I am not really a fan of the zipper either but I can live with them. I wish we went back to the rank/branch on the collar. I thought it was more desirable. But you can't have everything.

Personally I like the reverse but on the sleeves. It is less bothersome, out of the way and fairly easy to use. As for the zipper in the front there was a slight modification as to how high it goes. The zipper now goes up to the bottom of the top Velcro. I also found this to be better. I know there are some things that some folks will not be happy with, but of all the uniforms that were tested, this one was clearly the best performer during testing. I had the great opportunity to work at Operational Test Command as my previous assignment and this came through during that time period. I had the opportunity to make plenty of quarries into the testing and results and was very satisfied with what my Soldiers brought back from the test. It isn’t perfect but it is much, much better.

I guess your uniforms were made by a different contractor. That been said the uniform is definitely an improvement over the ACU without a doubt. But it still need a few teaks in my humble opinion. If it was up to me I would keep the old BDU cut with the new camouflage pattern.

Because some GO either has family in that business...........or the GO will have a job with that company once they retire. Honestly, kickbacks or backscratching is the only reason I can think of that these "designs" are even on the uniform
