I am currently in a program offered by the National Guard called "Accelerated OCS." When I finish I will have the opportunity to branch one of the following; Logistics, Field Artillery, Infantry or Intelligence. In your opinion, what would be the best option?

IN what else! Quartermaster is good too, it can set you up for logistics branch (not speaking from experience)

Easy.... whichever will give you the leadership and professional opportunities you are suited for and you like. From OCS, your choices may be more limited, but leading Soldiers is a good option no matter what branch you get.... With your question being 3 months old, lemme risk by asking which branch you chose?

Logistics would be a very valuable management experience set to add to your resume for civilian side employment.

SGT(P) (Join to see), in all seriousness, the Reserve Component gives you an option you haven't considered: create your own branch detail. I would recommend commissioning into a Maneuver, Fires, and Effects (MFE) branch, and then transitioning to either LG or MI. By the way, you can't commission into LG.

If you do your LT time in an MFE branch, and then choose to transition later, think of the experience you will have that many of your branch peers will not. An OD, QM, or TC lieutenant never gets the chance to lead a rifle, cannon, or tank platoon.

Moreover, you are probably much more likely to get a slot to Ranger School with an MFE branch.

Transitioning to LG later on in your career is straightforward, but perhaps not easy. Either go to an LG career course (CLC3 or one of the basic branches), or do the Senior Transportation Officer Qualification Course or the Ordnance Qualification Course (through ALMS, one or the other) and the Reserve Component Theater Sustainment Course.

Now I see someone, LTC (Join to see), suggested branch detail. Good job. His State probably told him LG as a broad category, since it's overwhelming enough just to choose between IN, FA, and MI without having to add OD, TC, and QM and further caveat becoming a Logistics Corps officer after promotion to O-3 and completion of his advanced course.
