I have been trying to find what regulation recruiters go by to enlist someone into the Army. Can someone help me out?

I'm a few years removed from my recruiting days but I think it's still AR 601-210.

MSG Pat Colby - That is actually DA PAM 611-21. Also known as the MOS Smart Book. AR 601-210 is enlistment standards and processing

SFC J Fullerton - For some reason DA PAM 611-201 sticks in my head. Pretty sure that used to be Enlisted MOS Bible and then 611-101 was the Officer Branch Bible.
Fuck. I'm showing my age again...

You will need not just the regulation but the various messages that are sent out which change the game, ..MOS's that are open or closed to enlistment, waivers that are authorized or not.
Recruiters...what other pertinent messages would this member need to get the whole picture, and how will he gain access to them?

Damn good point SGM! Keeping up with the Messages are a daunting task in itself.
Start with the Enlistment Form and subsequent Reg. As you peruse through the different sections, that Reg will lead you to other Regs. Waivers, etc... Messages supersede the Reg and are always subject to change.

Good point, SGM. The reg is definitely just a baseline. It might say the minimum ASVAB score is a 26, but the current message may say 40. The reg might say you can have 4 minor criminal infractions, but current messages might say 2.

Any operational changes to AR 601-210 are issued to the recruiting field though USAREC Messages, titled "Operational Changes to AR 601-210". It will cite the specific chapter, paragraph, and summary of change. However, the electronic version of AR 601-210 available through the USAREC Intranet for recruiters will automatically have changes and updates as they occur. But yes, USAREC messages cover a lot of situational factors in addition to this reg, such as open and closed categories, etc.
