LOCAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
AUSA has 125 chapters located worldwide. Made up entirely of volunteers, they provide recreational and educational opportunities to Soldiers and their families. Most importantly, they support our deployed Soldiers and families left behind. AUSA and its' chapters have contributed over $2,000,000 to awards, scholarships, and support of soldier and family programs.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL was a great Drill Sergeant! He has trained some of the most highly motivated and high speed Infantry soldiers in the Army. ;)

SFC Josh Simpson what makes you recommend the NIA? I mean other than the simple fact that we're infantrymen. I imagine you've been a member for a while? What are your personal thoughts or experiences? I ask because I've contemplated about being a member until I realized that Fort Bliss and the El Paso community does not have an active chapter according to the NIA's website.

My favorite has to be the CVMA - Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association - Motto "Vets helping Vets". A group of motorcycle enthusiasts that get together to raise money for Veterans in need of help as well as participate in "Wind Therapy" together. Nothing better than spending time with like minded people that understand what you have been through and use the same technique of relaxation. "When I am riding, I am happy".

What I really need to do is volunteer some time to a veterans organization. Like a WWP fundraiser or something to that effect.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, thank you. Yes, I try to keep myself fairly diverse although I put my focus on mostly about half of them.

I am a member of VFW, American Legion, IAVA, AMVETS, Masonic Lodge, OSACVSO, NACVSO, and RallyPoint. Used to be a member of AUSA under the 'highly recommended you be a member' period (stomp, stomp) which left a rather bad taste for me. Nothing against the organization as a whole, just the strong arm influence of command over becoming a member. I hope this is no longer the case.

Wow, just a lot of diversity and I bet you stay busy. AUSA has gotten a lot better of the years, I do recall that approach in the early 2000s and 1990s

For me The Soldier's Project which I have yet to do any real work and I'm looking into DAV. I've also supported SUDS, a scuba program for disabled vets that is outstanding. What I think is important that as individuals we give back or contribute in a positive manner. If we have more positive forces working than negatives our communities will reap the benefits. Kudos to SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL for getting involved. Excellent topic.
