Wear of Combat Boots in Basic Airborne Course.
Are all AR 670-1 compliant boots authorized for student use in BAC or do they only allow the wear of the standard issue temperate weather boot? I am seeing conflicting information from what I am reading on the packing list to what I am hearing from people just coming back from jump school. Thank you in advance for your time.

When one considers that a lot of students arrive straight after BCT/AIT/OSUT. All they have are the Standard issue combat boots. The ARTB web site states: BAC students are only authorized to wear issued combat boots with no alterations. http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/ARTB/

Over his twenty-one years of service, Colonel David G. Fivecoat has held leadership positions and staff assignments in airborne, air assault, armor, and mechanized infantry units at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. These assignments included participation in contingency operations in Kosovo and Bosnia, three combat tours in Iraq, and a combat tour leading the 3 rd Battalion, 187 Infantry in Afghanistan. Most recently, he was...

Yepp, that's what I was seeing too. SSG Fletcher just done with instructor duty and he said all AR 670-1 is good. I'm permanent party going there.

I'd take the packing list with a grain of salt in this case (at least back in 2014 they didn't check to make sure we brought everything). As long as you have a couple PTs, serviceable uniforms IAW AR 670-1 (to include boots), and toiletries, you'll be set. The packing list also says to bring your ACH. Don't.

Had no problem down there with my sage green Nikes ;)
And they weren't that picky. If you're a pipeline student just coming out of basic training, you might be looked at a little harder, Joe.

I'm headed to 4/25 in JBER, Alaska from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. I re-enlisted for Airborne, so I'm just making sure everything, including me, is squared away for the course.

The Nike SFB are the BEST Combat Boots ever!!! I wish I had them when I went through Airborne School, We could only wear our issued all leather combat boots with the hard soles to run! Killed my knees, but just sucked it up & ran!

All AR670-1 compliant. On in processing day you will get a lengthy brief on all the dos and donts to include uniforms.

Right on. I've been going over the packing list and there have been a couple of moments where I was like "Well, I guess that's what they want, so let's go hit up clothing and sales." I'm currently on the hunt for a retainer strap for my 2 pairs of military issue eyewear lol

All AR 670-1 compliant boots should be fine. I don't see the Airborne school being that picky. It's a quick course.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - The biggest thing that irritated me was failire to follow simple instructions, this is the same for most instructors. Listen, pay attention. Many students that get recycled during the course are recycled for failure to follow instructions more than once.

Doesn't ring a bell, but I've been around for a hot minute so I might know his unit. What does he do for a living in the Army? They've got 2/25, 3/25, DIVARTY, 8th MP BDE, 130th ENG BDE, and some other loose change laying around. I'm an Intel guy by trade, but I've met a SHIT TON of people in my time here.

I went straight out of AIT in 2007 and wore the old Converse boots without any problems.

Ft. Benning probably just needs to update the packing list on the website. They still have it listed as Cap, Sweatshirt, Sweatpants for Winter PT.

It used to be that one only wore the Cochran Jump boots after completion of the course and wings awarded. Not sure about today.
