I am currently working on my packet for this years upcoming Green To Gold (Active Duty Option) board. I have a 3.64 GPA along with 65 credits and currently enrolled in 2 more. I won my Battalion and Brigade Best Warrior Competitions and have favorable recommendations from my Chain of Command. I also have 3 technical certifications as I am a 25B and my job is in Information Technology. My PT score is a also a 275. Any help would be appreciated and information about the program will be really helpful to me as well.

Make sure you attend a Green to Gold brief, they tend to be at the education center 2-4 times a month. In that brief, they go over the specific requirements and also lay out the statistical averages for ADO awardees. Just a note, your number of credits does not matter, but in order to be eligible you must have a letter of acceptance as an academic junior, so make sure that your current classes support that endstate.

Generally speaking, you will be evaluated along three lines of effort: student, athlete, and leader. The packet outlines specific examples of each category. It sounds like you have a good baseline, but there is always room for improvement. I would look at the SAL checklist and figure out what category you are weakest in and work from there.

The bottom line is that you want your packet to be as strong as possible. My YG only picked up 76 out of a possible 200 from several thousand applicants. Constantly look for ways to improve your packet, and more importantly, your professional competence as that will support you both as enlisted and as a candidate. Strong NCOERs demonstrating a consistent work ethic, solid letters of recommendation, and activities that demonstrate being a dynamic candidate all support your career and goals.

Finally, I would encourage you to look at other options just in case you do not get selected. Being the most professional soldier you can be can be accomplished on either side of the house, and if being commissioned is the end goal, you can always pursue the Hip-Pocket scholarship, or other scholarship/non-scholarship options.

Good Luck!

I seen you mentioned NCOERs. It’s not a requirement for the packet, but is it possible to submit them? All, but my first, are strong.

SSG (Join to see) - Your NCOERs are actually listed on the application checklist (second from the bottom). When you start the application process and submit completed forms through the portal, you will be able to submit your NCOERs there.

I am sure you have heard this before, but it is pretty common for NCOERs to get stronger over time. The board is used to seeing that as well so don't sweat it. Mine were pretty strong, but like yours my earlier ones weren't as strong. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

I’m not entirely for sure with green to gold specifically but with your GPA as high as it is, you’ll be pretty competitive as is. Are you looking at specific schools to finish out?

I’m looking to go back home to New York City, New York and go to PACE University or St. John’s University because the Yellow Ribbon for undergraduates is unlimited. Thanks for the response, much appreciated.
