What can I expect from the 101st AVN units at Fort Campbell?

Depending on which airfield your talking about for sabre army airfield preachers mill off of 374 would be a good starting point. For Campbell army airfield there are a lot of houses in hwy 911 beside the Wal-Mart in oak grove has new and old construction. Also depends on the type of area you want to live more rural or urban. There is also a lot of housing on tiny town road which is kind of in the middle of the two airfields.

It really depends on which airfield you'll be at. 2BCT is IVO of Gates 6 & 7 (shortest routes from the hwy) along with 101st CAB. But if you're with 159th then Gates 1, 2, 10 and I'll say 3 you will go. If you're 159TH then you'll have a straight shot to the expressway which connects to everything is Clarksville and also takes you out to Woodlawn which is rural. So its about what you all really want. I lived there for 4 years before I left and rented out 3 different places. Hit me up if you want to know anything else

Since I retired many moons ago (25 years ago) its kind of difficult to tell you what to expect from 101 Avn units. Back when I was in, the 101st units were the greatest. All aviation units were wonderful. I wasn't a big fan of 2nd BCT, ( I was with the 1st) but I had a lot of friends there and they loved it. Training was intense but we enjoyed it. Housing is plentiful in the Oak Grave /Hopkinsville area. The airfield is just inside of gate 7, Oak Grove is outside of the gate. Hopkinsville is about 15 miles north and was a fairly nice community. You can get some pretty decent apartments outside the gates of Campbell, but you have all the problems associated with apartment life. Our crime is increasing and in many places, but its still not as bad as Nashville. We only have 195,000 in Clarksville. Oh yea, if you decide to purchase homes in this area, PLEASE purchase sinkhole insurance when you get your home owners policy. I promise you wont be sorry as we have many in this area. I pay an extra 10 bucks a month for mine thru Allstate. Also I understand quarters are very plentiful on post and compared to what I had 35 years ago, its not to bad.
