Things you can do or say at basic to ensure additional smoke sessions.
I thought this would be a good way to add some humor to the discussions list.

Things like...:

- Simply ask "Why?" for anything.
- "That was easy." after getting smoked
- Complain about the heat/cold
- Touch the campaign hat.

Ask your drill sergeant if you can sleep in. Or better yet just tell him or her that your tired and would like to take a nap.

Quit smoking. You aren't there for a break.

"Sergeant, if I were, you obviously wouldn't know."

“Can’t smoke a rock, Drill Saern’t!” We had a guy holler this at the Drill Sergeant one day. He took it as a challenge from the entire platoon...

During Basic at FT. Sill in 89', a fellow trainee had big plans to be an officer through OCS after enlisting. Standing next to him at attention while a Drill was dressing us down, this trainee interrupted the Drill in frustration and said, "Drill Sergeant, after I am an officer, I am gonna come back here and click your heels!" Needless to say, at the end of basic training, he scored really high on the push-up and sit-up portion of the PT Test.

I recall asking my drill instructor if I could put some push-ups in the bank for the future after having gone through an entire day without getting dropped and attempting to push Ft Benning closer to sea level. Lets just say it didn't work out so well!

My retired Marine great uncle sent me a letter in basic, complete with large, shiny EGA on the upper left corner. After the obligatory individualized smoke session, I open the letter...

Dear Russ, hope you enjoyed the PT...

If you went through Marine Corp boot camp the answer is nothing. Your DI owns you and your time on earth until you graduate. You get what the smoking lamp is lit for, usually one or two cigarettes.
