What can you do or say at Basic to ensure additional smoke sessions?

In the Corps, that's is referred to as be put on the quarterdeck in my day pretty much anything a recruit said or did would earn you a trip to the quarterdeck. foul up a drill movement? Mountainclimb! Not move fast enough? MOUNTAINCLIMB!

My brother and I went to visit my nephew/ son on visitor weekend at MCRD. We were both in uniform. I was a Army CPT and my brother was a Master Gunnery Sgt (E9). The DI gave me a parade ground salute and reported our Marine earned his EGA. After we left, my nephew call how he got smoked in the pit. Why? Not saying his father was a SNCO and for his Uncle being an soldier AND a officer. I never laughed so hard. But was proud of him at his pass in review dressed in his Blues.

When I was in basic training at Ft. Ord, our "smoking sessions" were just that, "light em up if ya got em" was the signal to go ahead and smoke a cigarette. Of course, our DI's would call for a 10 minute break, we expected five, and usually got one!

We were too busy doing push-ups, sit-ups and running. By the end of the day we were already "smoked".

When I was in BCT at Ft. Leonard Wood, they opened every package in front of everyone and my mom sent me a fidget spinner, colored pencils and other random shit that the drill sergeants made fun of the entire cycle

Call the Drill Sergeant 'Sir' (Army, during the Cold War era, Fort McClellan) not only once but multiple times when asked 'WHAT THE HELL DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!?'. My arms hurt decades later from that debacle.

When your the Drill and you are the night NCO and you tour the outside as you hear some talking and find 8 PVT’s smoking weed. Let’s just say from 0145-0530 was the worst days of their lives. For the next 3 weeks the mess was so spotless that you walk in and it sparkles of cleanliness.
