What can you tell me about the Commander's Initiatives Group?

Has any RP worked within and/or with a CIG and care to share some details of what the CIG does? I'm aware that most (if not all) CG's have a CIG, but I'm not aware of their function or what they actually do. Thanks.

From my understanding, it's a group that does research, development, and analysis for new initiatives that a commander wants to put forward or explore. The group helps with program development and policies. I don't know if it's fair to say, but I view it as the CG's personal S-3 shop, whereas the S-3 shop itself serves the entire unit and not the CG.

Sir - thanks for the information...that's what i was looking for. I'm being nominated for the USAJFKSWCS/SOCOE's CIG for my next position and I'm just trying to have an idea of what they actually do before I have my interview.

LTC (Join to see) - I imagine it will be a lot of research and policy development (i.e. readings and powerpoint slides). However, since it's at USAJFKSWCS, it will probably be more on the interesting side. I wouldn't be surprised if some of it has to do with female integration into SOF units, as well as possibly long term SOF vision policy planning.
