I am a 35P. Mostly strategic background with a short deployment supporting 10th mtn. My branch wants to send me airborne and giving me group option as well to 5th at Campbell, 10th at carson, or 3rd at bragg?
Which would be an overall better pick?
I want to look at from many aspects. I have family as well so schools, communities and quality of life is a big concern just as much as the unit, optempto, training opportunities, and career development.
Any recommendations or anyone willing to share their experience would be more than appreciated. Thanks.

I have served with or in all the active SF Groups and each has there strengths and challenges for non tabbers.
It is about your culture, your families strengths and your character.
First-if you have a choice...what region appeals to you most? The groups tend to take on the cultural aspects of the region they support and that would appeal to you.
Second-language...if you have a primary it will drive your assignment. Just that simple. They need specific languages in each group-if your lucky and have a language that cross cuts groups-great
Third-don’t go indiginoius when you arrive. There are Green Berets...then everyone else who supports Green Berets. When your in the group your job is to be value added in your skill but be prepared to do whatever is needed. Whenever it’s needed to make the mission a success. But never forget-until you volunteer to be assessed and pass SFQC...in the end, you are a temp hire.
Lastly-if your a frat boy or Anglophile -10th is the place, of your machismo and swagger-7th is your crew, if your a knuckles up guy-It’s 5th, if you’re all about the UW and Indig -3rd will be great, and if your about training and mil to mil then 1st.
Each battalion is different and each group acts in there own space. But for a Soldier-it’s the place to get good at your job, learn great skills and make some non-conventional aspects of your craft shine.
For families I hear only good things from 10th,1st and 5th. 10th and 1st are pricey though. Bragg has its goodness with 3rd but schools are hit and miss and 7th in Eglin May be a cool since your on a AFB.
Pray you choose wisely for your family-you May be our and about a lot and they will have to make their best life where you go Brother. That is paramount to your success
Good luck and God Speed

Gotya. I was wondering why you had so many options.
I can't help with most of your questions, but I do know that after my rotations I was replaced by the same units, so optempo can be high. Career wise, you can get what you want out of your time as a SOT-A, as long as you're willing to put in work. Conversely, your career can get held up easily. You'll find the hardest part is that coming over with little tactical SI experience is going to set you up with a steep learning curve.
I'll pm you my email, in case you have specific questions.

Shoot with only group options all are decent for the unit themselves.
I spent 6 years at bragg and love everything about it, and good areas for buying/building a house. Bad side is the school system isnt the greatest, if you do choose it, look north of post for better school districts than south, or jack britt area, but its inside city limits which I prefer outside of.
I have also heard great things about carson and the area, but he never been.
Campbell is the only one I dont know anything about.

Fort Carson Mountain Post Living
Overall, Fort Carson is a great Army base with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop.

Hi. We're with Fort Carson MWR & Mountain Post Living (MPL). Mountain Post Living is a healthy living and active lifestyle community connection concept on Fort Carson. Mountain Post Living DOES NOT sell anything.
You can learn more about Fort Carson Mountain Post Living by visiting our community events page at https://carson.armymwr.com/programs/mountain-post-living-events.
Fort Carson is an extremely family oriented military community. Most current responses in this thread support that Fort Carson is a good base. Let Fort Carson MWR/MPL know if you need transition assistance. We're more than welcome than to get you in touch with necessary resources prior to your arrival at Fort Carson.
Check out the Fort Carson 'Sizzle Reel' video on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfaa6pZ8IIY&t=1s). It will give you a good idea of what the base is about.

5th GRP is a good option. The community is great and you WILL stay busy.

I loved being at Carson. Elementary and middle schools were on post. It wasn't until high school that our kids had to go off post and Fountain/Ft Carson high school was pretty good.

Each SF Group has it's own area of the world it is responsible for. Not sure if you know that or not but look into it at least and it might help you with your decision.
