In reading responses.. it's easy to know that there are folks who served long before my time. 02/04-02/10, now retired. Anyone, I mean, anyone, who came before me or send in a time before me. My 2 brothers were old school, my parents who both served during Vietnam, definitely old school. Both grandfather's served during WWII (ONE being in Hawaii, so that was a given, the other was a paratrooper in Europe). Those "men" we're digging old school as shit. Bless their souls.

We were considered old school, not because of what we wore, but because of the fact that I was in one of the classes that still showed respect to the leaders, and that included the drill sgts and they showed respect to those of us that were older then them. I was at least 10 years older then my instructors and they showed respect but worked me just as hard as the 20 year olds. (I was 33 in basic) and yet I could out do most of the kids. When I went in I was 5'7" and weight 155 lbs they said I was too light and needed to gain weight lol. So I ate anything and every thing but could not gain more then 10 lbs when I left recovery school 7 months later to report to my first unit. So being old school was hard work and showing respect just like you were taught under the rules of your house. Anything before the 2000's would probably be considered old school.

Doing PT in fatigues and combat boots. 1 believe we were finally allowed to start wearing running shoes around '84 or '85. Spit shining your boots using a white t-shirt. If you wore the tan dress shirt.

If this web site is a cross section of the military of today, "Old school" would be those who believe and serve the Constitution of the United States of America. The Frankenbama era personnel I see are largely self serving, have an agenda other than the Constitution and freedom and even believe the Constitution is flawed. Take your agenda and unconstitutional beliefs and get out, the military needs and deserves those that will fight in unity for freedom. Your agenda fragments strength and weakens unity and you serve a deluded purpose.

Starched fatigues and Khakis with a crease sharp enough to shave with. C-rats dated in the early 1940's. No time outs. No special privileges - everyone is equal and must play by the same rules. Driving 1/4 ton jeeps and deuce and a halfs. No stripes for E1 or E2. Green dress uniform with tan shirt and spit shined shoes.

PT uniforms, yeah right. Come on old school is KP, Spit Shine, OD fatigues, M-14, Fri. Night fights @ Jump School to avoid KP, Shipping out overseas on jump seats in a C-141 as a unit with all your company gear in the middle of the aircraft. Brasso, and WTF is a "time out" in training. '66-'68.
