No co-Ed marching, no women in traditional male roles ( for most part ) especially when unit cohesion is of the utmost importance... e.g., women taken captive... let us say by Taliban, need I go any further? In that case, the unit’s mission just changed ! The young lady’s safety becomes priority #1.!
As for the Navy... WHY is it important for women to be aboard combat ships ??? Give this old salt ONE REASON. Social engineering doesn’t count ! I served from 1971-1975 as an Aviation Boatswains Mate. Having to ANNOUNCE your presence in “ female country” is NONSENSE !!! This is all about emasculating the AMERICAN military !!!! I watch on YouTube the Line handling party's and women are INCREASING THE WORK EFFORTS OF YHE MALE SAILORS ! Do I have to break that down ????!!!!

Relax AN! Do I detect a tangent having not much to do with the question here? No disrespect intended, but what's with all the exclamation points and capital letters? Jeez! It was such an innocent question about "Old School" memories - correct me if I'm wrong, but are you mad at someone about the emasculation issue in general? I have a suggestion: If this subject is really important to you, post it in specific groups, or as a status update, or both. You'll get alot more views/comments, and maybe you will find new areas to network, or maybe even form a new group to take on this issue, if you feel it still is one (which I for obvious reasons cannot speak to). Thank you for your service.

I will just add,
Tree to Tree counseling since I was Infantry and also eating and heating CRats with C4. Now that’s some old school stuff. Proud to say that’s me for life.

Not even sure how old you have to be to be old school. But, I think that old school probably is indicated by anyone who is having that discussion. If that makes any sense... For me that would be probably anytime after 1967, and before 1988??

For PT we wore fatigues, combat boots, and white t shirts. Slept in the old WW2 barracks when the wind blew the blanket blew onto the floor.

Under the Constitution, the civilian President is the Commander in Chief. That turned out to be a disastrous relationship in Vietnam when LBJ chose Westmoreland for political reasons, when none of the other generals agreed with his "War of Attrition" strategy that assumed the Communist leaders at the top gave a rat's ass about how many of their people were killed.
