If you can recognize girls from boys, not whine about losing cell reception, live without a computer for more than a week, take showers with others of the same sex, and know what salt peter was for.

I don't mean this to sound Politically Incorrect, but "old school" was when combat arms like my MOS didn't have female slots. Except officer positions of course. And that was only back in the 90's when I was still in. ( for the record I'm stating a fact I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with previous Army policies).. Yes my unit had a couple of deuce and a halfs also still, but we were getting those brand new 5 tons which are ancient as well now.

When you can answer what does REMF, Pogi Bait, FIGMO, FTA, pillow biter and ghetto blaster mean, you are "old school".

Now 36 years later I have arthritis in my left hand from slamming it into a bunk when the buffer got away from me. Broke 2 bones but was afraid to say anything. Finished basic training.

Hand wrote a response on a DF form...to something that was typed up on another. Or, rather, the carbon copy of it.

You nugs don’t know old school unless you have driven a real Jeep and deuce and a half, fired a 1911 and m-14 and at C rats.

Keeping a pair of spit shined jump boots that were never ever used except for guard mount and full field inspections

Also let's not forget KP for punishment, such as being late for formation, I had to peel about 100 potatoes before formation at 0300 for being 15 minutes late the prior day
