I'm hearing/reading people saying "I'm old school, therefore..." So out of curiosity's sake, where is that ever-moving line?

If you ever wore Spec 5 or 6, had a P38 on your dog tag chain and used it, used heat tabs, did PT in boots, wore your unit crest on your ball cap, got an EER, used a shelter half, had field pants, had a vending machine in the barracks that sold beer, had a metal wall locker, called the new private with BDUs the BN model, been to check point charlie, all the senior NCOs were hard ass Vietnam vets.

That line is "older than you". For sailors, I think having worn Dungarees as your working uniform is sufficiently "old school".

How the real military did things the right way, when I went to boot camp in 1983 there was timeouts if the DI got in your face and insulted your whole family including the family pet.I heard they change the way they do pushups called the modify pushup,I can go on for hours about the new Army but I still love the Army because it made me a better man!

Even tho I was Navy and not Army, I remember the P38 and c-rats. Try them for 15 days at battle stations in the summer in the Philippine Sea in after steering in a WWll tin can.

Old school=> PT in fatigue pants, t-shirt and boots, eat c rations and K rations, wore baseball caps and had a unit pay office (in cash).

Unit pay Officer was usually the Cdr or XO, once a month in cash.
