Old School... Perhaps if you experienced the following:
Troop Ship to Germany from New York in 1964
Twin 40mm Self Propelled Anti Aircraft Guns - US Army Panama 1960-63
Honest John Rockets in Fort Hood - 1965
75mm Pack Howitzers in Fort Sill - 1960
Different preperations of Spam, three meals a day for almost one week, 1965 in Vietnam.
Ceiling hangers for uniforms and clothing and open barracks for 60 or more - Panama
Bunk Beds in the barracks - many locations up to around 1979
Having to apply black dye to your issued Brown Boots - Fort Ord 1960
And many more!

Old MAC troop here: AF BMT in 83 simple and easy, 'cokes and smoke breaks, C-rats with smokes, pack of smokes was .35 cents, TDYs and deployments were paid out in cash, no credit cards. PT test was done in cut-offs/old t-shirt, no damn cell phones, no personal computers, qual'd on .38s, airmen painted rocks white, curb yellow safety lines and NCOs watched with coffee cup in one hand and smoke in the other, Commander's call was usually at the NCO club with your favorite alcoholic beverage, at the end of the day and mission accomplished, it was grab a cold beer. Retired in Jan 2004.

Anyone who was in the military, at least 20 years before you joined up, is old school.

I was issued womens army core uniform lol, and it was called the New Army...first few women training with the men. Wore Beatle Baily greens, ran in boots, did pt in pea greens and a tea shirt, ate C-rats had first mre 6 years later. 269 days in one year in graph not tent city, helped tune up a gamma goat that didn't float. Use kwawi polish, wore female Bennie that nobody knew how to wear, spit shine jump boots with tape and was in div artillery lol. Wore a Parker with a sweater so nice and warm, had micky mouse boots that cause frost bite lol, oh can't forget my p38...gave away the cigarettes from my c-rats use moe gas to heat the tent

Dragging your M-1 Garrand around and learning to take it apart. Seeing "Maggies draws" at the firing range, spit shine your brown boots, seeing the bombed out buildigs in Germany, living in the Kasernes in Germany...........Those are distant memories.......

As a Vietnam Vet 1967/1968 I consider myself to be old school and find this talk about yellow PT shorts to be ridiculous. We would tear Claymore mines apart and use the C4 to heat up our C-rations. Give me a break!!!

1967 at Fort Lost in the Woods ( Little Korea ) also known as Fort Leonard Wood We still used the M-1 and ate Sea Rations with small packs of cigarettes and a small pack of chicklets. We ran 9 miles in the morning wearing combat boots and watched the 2.5 tons drive by as we ran to the rifle ranges. we wore kakis and had fire watch duty at night in the ww2 barracks. I guess I am old school because that was the Military I loved the best. When I left active duty in 1971. Did Reserve and National Guard time until 1981 and returned in 1996 to find everything changed completely! I retired in 2007 I have seen a lot!
