If you ate C Rats, thought driving a 5 ton was wussy because it had power steering, not like a real truck- a deuce and a half, spit shined your boots before you put on your button fly cotton fatigues and your drill sergeants used fuck as a noun, verb, adjective, adverb and exclamation!

We don't call ourselves "old school". We got called that when we show you, Maggot, how it's done without winding for every little shit; even though, we were once a maggot that winding for every little shit before you were born.

When you’ve been in a few years longer than the age of new recruits coming in, then you may qualify as “Old School” (it’s also time to start thinking about retirement).

Before BDU's, jungle fatigues were green. Then John Wayne appeared in BDU's so the Military decided to issue BDU's and let GI's ware them to Walmart...before shipping out in Seattle I was issued 6 pairs of XXL boxers instead of medium because that's what they had. Then 6 more pairs of XXL boxers instead of T shirts, towels, wash cloths. I asked " What am I supposed to do with 24 pairs of XXL green boxer shorts in my duffle bag." They said "Trade them when you get to base camp." I never found a GI that was big enough to were them. Oh well.

Keeping this short. A high and tight hair cut. No mustasche. Spit shined boots/low quarters. Pants, shirts pressed so hard, you can cut steel with the crease! All metals on the uniform shined daily, worn or not. Foot and wall lockers arranged in proper military order according to the basic training manual of your service. Ate C-rations, cold! Had PT shorts that were also swimming trunks! Had a weekend, base or town pass, 3 days long!
