If you have to ask...you wouldn't relate anyway. If you've only been in boots this century...you ain't it. No, no yur not.

Old school was living in WWII barracks running 15 miles a day sharing carrying those unable to finish 1 hour of PT everyday. Footlocker and locker inspections everyday. Verbal and physical hardening by DI’s that would be considered abuse in today’s pussified environment. Going into mess hall on monkey bars and not being able to enter chow line until everyone is in mess hall standing at attention at tables. Going on forced day and nite 25 mile marches with full packs hand to hand combat training with no holding back and graduating soldiers ready mentally and physically for battle to kill enemy and support their fellow soldiers in battle

What do you mean, "What constitutes being "old school" in the military?". ARE YOU QUESTIONING ME, BOY? Do I look like your Mama, boy? Your Mama ain't here, boy. Your Mama don't love you boy! You've got a new mama now, Boy! The army is your mama now, boy, and you don't ask your new mama questions, boy! You just do what your new mama tells you, and right now your new mama is telling you to drop and give me twenty, BOY!

'Old School" is a subjective term.
The question is 'how old"?
WW II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq Eras?
Each era had it's unique military culture, equipment and living
conditions.

It is a moving line. I guess you start from the time you first enlisted/commissioned and go back to a time when they wore different uniforms, ate different field chow and performed different PT tests among a host of other things. Unless you are in the Marines. They don't change uniforms.

Dying your brown boots black. Starched fatigues. Needing a pass to leave post. Opened C-Rations and finding cigarettes.

SPC Lyle Montgomery
Heating C rations with a pinch of C4 in a pinaple can with holes made in the bottom of the can made by a can opener, not the p38.
