Being an Old Navy man, I can tell you that my vary first observation was that a goodly number of khacki clads hadcaffer mugs surgically fitted to their dominant hand which was held at waist level along side of well rounded bellies. They had voices that rivaled dump trucks full of gravel. They talked of times in their past of ships of wood and men of steal. They taught us everything we needed to know to do our jobs and to survive life in the jungles of the outside world . That is "Old School" the Navy way.

O my, I can relate to all of these. And I'm not quite as old as dirt! My drive was a 1/4 tom willies with a trailer, I also drove a gamma goat! Those were the days. Then I got a hummer, what an upgrade.
For my part old school would be those times prior to women being able to go through jump school or holding any type of combat role. Not that I am prejudiced on this matter as I have known some fine women paratroopers/riggers; Joyce Kutch being the very first and most well respected. That would be the time line I seperate the old army from the new.
