Had white TShirts, tailored, starched fatigues, did PT in fatigues and combat boots. Ate C rations. Carried a p38 Bathed and shaved using my steel pot helmet.

I remember the old days,
M16A1
1/4ton Ford built Jeeps
M880
Deuce and a half
5ton
Cattle car
Heavy starched BDU’s
Spit shined boots
Steel pot helmets
Anyone remember the cadence song “a yellow bird “? lol
Drill sergeant’s never asked about our feelings, especially when they were swearing at you with the brim of their hat against your forehead.
Sea rations, the canned food smelled like dog food. The good stuff was the chocolate rice cookie and the four pack of cigarettes. (Smoke em if you got em)
P38
Them days are long gone.

Old School is anything that happen or any old rules or Reg that you did Yesterday, that are no longer in effect today, for example if tou talk to a WWII VET AND A Korean war Vetm the WWII vet would tell the Korean vet he is old school, a Korean vet would tell the Vietnam Vet he is old school, and so on, it could be due to Technology, Unifourm REG Changes , a change in the military rules and regulations, and so on it goes, this is why I say old school is anything that happen yesterday.

As a Marine the "Old Corps/Old Breed" ended the day before you enlisted.
Being old school means Nobody gives a fu<£ about your feelings. Deal with your feelings as the mission allows.
If you’re offended, nobody cares about you being offended.
Develop thick enough skin so you won’t melt under pressure.
The whole point of training is to simulate war. If it sucks, then the training is teaching you to embrace the suck, relish the suck. Look forward to the next time it sucks even worse, so you can say you made it through the shittiest experience in your life, and you are disappointed that the suck factor was not higher.
Old school means mission accomplishment is more important than your weak-ass feelings.
Being old school means shut up and do your job, your whining is not helping anyone.

Standing in line twice a month to get my $26 in cash from the "Pay Officer".
The buttons on my Utilities had a flap to hide them and I was issued one set of herringbone utilities.
The mess hall at Chu Lai was a series of tents with sand as floors.
Using an M1 for training at ITR Camp Pendelton.
Issued a M14 in Vietnam, I never saw an M16
Staying in Quonset huts for Boot Camp, MCRD San Diego
Boots n Utes for PT
Junk on the Bunk
Open Squad Bay

I was in the Navy and Naval Reserves. Every two years, they would reinvent the Navy, and then we would have a "New Navy" and an "Old Navy". After 3 or 4 cycles of these changes, the latest version of the "New Navy" was almost indistinguishable from the "Old Navy" that they pronounced obsolete just a few years before. Most of us seemed to cope by taking as little notice as possible and just carrying on in whatever fashion actually seemed to work.
