I think "New School" began about 20 years ago with no starched uniforms and boots that didn't need shining. Service Members got lazy on "details" and units also became distracted with piled on briefings and less time "Soldering" as well.
Now the military is heavily focused on applying "social experiments" than mission readiness...and our adversaries are taking notes! Now, we do have some "old souls" joining the contemporary military, but they are rare. We need to get back to what made us the best just a couple decades ago.

Well let me add to my previous post. No BDUs, just green fatigues, no singing g AC/DC song's. Before their times. White t-shirts, OD green socks, PT was in fatigues with boots, no sneakers or pt uniforms. That's old time.

All these old heads talking about pre GWOT army forget it's 2023. If you've ever taken an APFT your pretty much old school now.

Wearing of the all green uniforms doing PT and running miles in boots, sleeping on the ground and doing PT two or sometimes three times a day. Eating MRE's the ones came in cans with that hard to use can opening that came with the meals now that's old school there. Been there done that no changing into PT uniforms or gym shoes for morning PT.
