Had to carry canned C-rations to the field with a P-48 and tried to heat them up using an old can with diesel fuel from the duece and a half.

I guess I might be old school. PT uniform was removing your fatigue shirt and doing PT in your duty uniform and boots. Never saw a pt belt, cute little running suit, or running shoes.

If you were issued an M16 you are NOT Old School! Now if you were in the RVN and were issued an M14 you can brag about being Old School!

The story goes that in 1775 when the first Marine battalion was authorized, the recruiting station was Tun Tavern. The incitement for enlistment was a shot of rum and flagon of beer. The first marine who signed up (to this day unknown) was sitting in the Tavern with his shot and flagon when about 10 minutes later another came in, announced he had enlisted, and requested his flagon of beer. As he sat at the bar, the first Marine asked if he was going to get his shot of rum (thinking if not, he'd take it for him). The second Marine asked "Shot of rum? What shot of rum?"
The first explained that when he enlisted he was offered both a shot and a flagon. The second Marine replied "Ah, OK, you must be "Old Corps".

Old school to me would be:
c-rats, un-bloused your pants and ran in boots, fatigues, white t-shirts, full-color patches, immersion heaters, "horse-cock" sandwiches, pay-day activities, smoking indoors at the TMC, .38 cal pistols for aviation

Old school means, no women in ground combat roles, no homosexuals/transsexuals members, no politics, and no CRT allowed. All these things are distractions from the primary mission of protecting the country from her enemies and makes the military weaker and dis-unified.

I agree with Major Petrarca; I did all of that and more; strived to ensure that the soldiers under my care (not out of sight out of mind); and their families were taken care of (not just when a crisis happened but I checked up on them to ensure they had decent food, shelter, clothing, etc. What some view as an intrusion, was to ensure that the problem didn't not escalate to the point where it got so out of hand that serval agencies now had to step in where one caring person could have prevented all that .... you do not need a hammer to hit you over the head when you deliver a Food basket to a home.......and in the middle of the room instead of furniture you see a $3000.00 stereo set but no furniture.
