SGT Ben Keen - IIRC you are not allowed to wear e.g. a field jacket with your name tag on it. I can understand no "U S ARMY", but your name is YOUR name.

CW3 Harvey K. - Honestly if someone wants to bust my balls because my nametape is still on my jacket, than they can feel free to kiss my forth point of contact. I'm all for maintaining standards but let's face it, we have bigger issues within the Veteran community to deal with rather than busting someone's chops for having a nametape on their jacket.

SGT Ben Keen - What it comes down to is "Did you give up the right to display your name on an article of clothing that is/was an issue uniform of the military service, that is no longer a part of a full uniform?"
If there is no BOS tape, proclaiming the wearer as a member of the BOS, then why can he not proclaim his name to the world, if he wishes?

What were they thinking? No one would wear any uniform for "style". They're not stylish. And taken in combination with other "pieces", they are the anti-style. Those of us who wear/wore them, wear/wore them with pride, but not for style.

I laugh at authenticity too. Navy dress uniforms were 100% pure, unbreathable wool. I admire anyone crazy enough to willingly wear them when they don't have to.

PO3 Donald Murphy - I always found the military (USMC and ARMY) to do a damn fine job with cold-weather clothing. There was no way they could keep you cool in hot weather but to feed you lots of water and salt pills.
