I use any and all digital tools to improve my veteran experience... and any situation that requires technical intel... action or communication.

Better access to forms with digital upload and tracking. I always struggle to find a form I can upload.

I think the tools that we use, can be improved to help the veteran, with medical and other needs

I have to travel 2 hours to a VA Facility. Making appointments is a challenge because I have to call my clinic and they pass it to the hospital in Denver/Aurora. Then They set up an appointment and I have to hope to be able to make the appointment. Online appointments would help this process. Although I requested digital reminders, I still get snail mail. This is a waste of money in today's climate. I also use express scripts for some of my prescriptions. The medications I get from the VA are alternative medication because the formulary does not carry my medications. I can contact my doctor using secure messaging, however, since my doctor is not in my state, I have to send messages to a nurse who acts as intermediary.

Overall, the most important part of digital is end to end usability studies and user experience. When developing apps and websites, many times this is overlooked.

The reason why phones (for the most part) work so well is due to years of incremental changes, and sharpening of the sword. The same principle applies to digital tools. It is about the human experience.

As far as tools are considered. I would only recommend platforms that are web based. Many teams look to build phone apps, which in turn need maintenance and have security updates mandated by Google and Apple. This takes away from the main focus of the tool. Build responsive websites on platforms like Adobe AEM. You will never regret it. Survey and data gathering and forms that are compliant with California and other data compliancy laws, I recommend Alchemer. Great tool and almost anyone can use.

Better integration with private health providers since many VA centers are far from veterans. Maybe an all in one type of app that will show availability of applicable services in the area (health, commisary, etc)

We need a better password system. It changes too often, is too hard to navigate to replace, and set up and validate. Too often it requires a trip to a VA center.
