Direct commission; what do I ask for in the contract? Can I ask for OCS, infantry? How likely is that to happen? Do infantry officers get ranger school? SFAS? What about RASP instead of ranger school? How do I ask for this stuff? I have an intelligence background, will that help? What is the max age for SFAS and RASP? I have 6 years prior service and I turned 32 yesterday. Can I get loan repayment too for student loans? I was screwed out of loan repayment the first time by a dishonest recruiter.

A direct commission is normally to become a Medical Officer or Chaplain, not Infantry. With a direct commission, you don't need OCS, because it makes you an Officer without it. Infantry Officers do get to go to Ranger School pretty much until they graduate or quit. As a Medical Officer or Chaplain, you should be able to go to either SFAS or RASP, or both at different points in your career. I remember reading about a Chaplain graduating the SFQC and earning his Green Beret and Long Tab. As an Officer, if you go to RASP and don't have your Ranger Tab yet, you'll have to get it before actually taking your position in the unit. I would talk to a Regimental or SOF recruiter about some of this stuff.

thank you that is enlightening. I thought the OCS option was the same as direct commission. I guess I am asking for OCS.

No harm asking the right resource for the correct information SGT Shane Adair. There are honest recruiters and dishonest ones, but all must fill specific billets.

You’re a 32 yr old 35G. With 6 years prior service. Out of curiousity, how is your rank SP5?

I clicked some button really fast and it gave me that. My rank was Sergeant, and they wouldn't put me on the P list unless I reenlisted. They were aware that I was coming up on reenlistement just after when I should have been promoted.
