As we approach the 4th of July, it struck me how many things that I love about this country. I was wondering how many things others love. How about you?

Hi, Colonel Romanick.
I’m a member of the greatest military in the world, not because of the tanks or planes, but because each of my brothers and sisters honor their sworn oath. And they do so not for glory, but in support of our Constitution. There is no higher sacrifice.

I love how, if I want, I can get into my car and travel anywhere within the lower 48. I love the fact that if I am unhappy with politicians, I can vote to have them removed (even though it rarely works that way). I love the fact that I have been deemed worthy to wear the uniform of our Armed Forces.

One of the things us Mil types would notice but not the general population is that for the most part you don't have to look over your shoulder all the time. That's the freedom from fear piece that we've seen little of in many other countries. Unfortunately there are growing pockets especially in depressed cities that have imposed a malignant cruelty on our youth.
