The biggest thing to do, is self decompressing. Find something to relieve reduce the stresses of every day life. For some it’s video games, for some card games, others movies or reading. Finding people you can trust to help you talk about whatever you need while simultaneously helping to keep you calm during upsetting events is crucial.

I listen to and study the Bible daily. I also pray and memorize the Bible to keep me on track and in harmony with the purposes God plans for me each and every day. The Bible is my firm foundation that I rely on. It has never let me down. And, the God of the Bible watches over me and guides me with His Spirit as I put my trust in Him and His word and promises

At 86, with heart failure, COPD, Asthma, Sleep Apnea and AFIB, the FIRST thing I do in the morning is use my Concept Two Indoor Rower to row 1,600 meters (one mile) for 20 minutes; Next I lift free weights of 5 to 10 pounds for 45 minutes following an illustrated chart of DUMBBELL WORKOUTS; Next I follow an illustrated charts of YOGA ASANAS postures doing the ones I can do standing up for 20 minutes; then I go for a 20 minute massage with a electric neck and back massager. I find that exercise in the early morning improves my mood, reduces stress, minimizes pain, increases my functional mobility and muscle strength. All of this helps me sleep better at night which is hard when you are elderly but it reflects the character of disciplined exercise routines, built-up through a life of jogging (like a Budweiser Clydesdale) about 40 miles a week for 40 years until I was retired at 68. My point is no matter what shape you are in, physically or mentally, or what your age is, its never too late to begin SLOWLY exercise into your day---and the best time is early morning.

Be always grateful for what God has blessed me with. If you think about all you have to be grateful for there isn't a lot of room to be sad.

I've been through the VA Domiciliaries a handful of times. Taken all their classes and therapies, CBT, MRT, DBT, etc, etc, I just practice what I've learned there. Also moving out of major cities to the mountains of Wyoming has helped me almost more than anything.

I created the "RoboGuts™ S.T.E.A.M. Education Program" http://www.R2Pv1.com/, and I also have been building and repairing vintage computers, besides transporting some of the robotics technology to my vintage 1975 Altair 8800c computer
"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOF4wjonCKw&ab_channel=WaltPerko" ...
and I also write music
"http://www.brainless.org/ndmp/ThisIsAmerica.htm" "http://www.brainless.org/ndmp/".
Then I also help my neighbors in the low-income senior apartments with their TV and computer problems. I've started creating some 3D CAD models of a new S-100 vintage style computer cases for the S100Computers.com group
"https://groups.google.com/g/s100computers"
as well as adding another source for information to building vintage computers;
"http://www.brainless.org/Altair/"
I also have been creating the "RoboToons Robot Cartoons series ... over 700 cartoons so far.
The only thing slowing me down at 73-years old is a lack of sufficient funds.
